Comparing Digital and Classic Photography

Digital photography may well be regarded as one of the most innovative technologies of the twentieth century. Its cost is only about half that of traditional photography, and the results are equal or even better in quality. There is no need for film, and because you will only be printing images you like, digital photography is not only cost-effective but environment-friendly too. One of the most appreciated things about digital photography is that you can easily show pictures to people, regardless of location, as long as they are connected to the Internet through a computer.

Photography in our Lives

A lot of people are crazy over photography, whether as a pastime or as a full-time career. It has also come a very long way since its invention, and its popularity has never died. In fact, it’s only getting more and more popular, and it is even slowly replacing film photography, especially in the professional setting. Even for expert photographers, the move to digital is accompanied by a significant learning curve.

The Digital World

A digital camera is essentially a little computer. Digital pictures’ quality will differ from camera to camera, although it has generally increased through the years. Still, even with all the proof that opposite is true, some people think old-fashioned cameras are still better. If you’re shopping for a digital camera, remember that it’s not the cost of the camera nor its size that ultimately matters. You want something you’ll be happy using, something that can give you pictures that satisfy you.

Unlike film cameras, digital cameras let you use your storage media for an unlimited number of times and at zero cost. If you’ve used a traditional camera in the past, you surely remember how frustrating the limited number of possible shots can be with film, or how you can never delete a picture once it has been taken. In other words, digital photography is an enhancement to photography as an art, a hobby or a career. The digital era has indeed brought in the most important changes in photography ever since it was invented.

In the end, digital and traditional photography are complements of each other. They have their individual spots in the world of photography. Any skills that are useful in traditional photography will also be valuable in digital photography. It’s easy to see that both worlds are inevitably connected. As long as all photographers do their best, no matter which world they’re in, they will produce great work. Besides, photography is generally just a tool. The photographer himself is the one who actually makes a difference. The photographer is the one who really creates the image.
